Suze story
This authentic yellow gentian bitter aperitif was awarded the gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900! Suze, definitively a vintage brand !
Suze storyVideo description
Suze was created in 1889 by Fernand Moreau, heir to a family distillery, who was looking to invent a new kind of aperitif. An aperitif that would not be based on wine as was the norm, but instead on the yellow gentian roots, which grew in the mountains of France before being harvested by hand after 20 years. The yellow gentian liquor then needed a catchy name. Fernand Moreau decided to call it Suze after the name of his stepsister Suzanne, a strong gentian lover. In 1896, Henri Porte, the associate of Fernand Moreau, designed the distinctive and iconic Suze bottle that is still used today. In 1900, Suze is awarded the gold medal at Paris World's Fair. This was the beginning of the great success. Quirky by nature, Suze broke the code of classic communication with outdoor advertising and promotional items to quickly become part of French daily life. Through the years, Suze has confirmed itself as a unique brand with a fun and offbeat personality, communicating on half -benefits with humor, making fun of the many who have attempted to imitate Suze and even dabbling in seduction. For 130 years, Suze has remained faithful to its authentic and traditional know -how. Twenty years old wild gentian roots from the mountains of France blended with a secret aromatic bouquet, all that give Suze its distinctive and bittersweet taste, bright yellow color and unique personality. Endorsed by international bartenders, Suze is an ideal base for cocktails and as the simple and iconic Suze Tonic. It even has its own version without any alcohol, Suze Tonic Zero.
